*The market only opens in the morning, there’s no market tour in the afternoon.

Full Itinerary

Hanoi Local’s guide and driver will take you from the Hanoi center and drive to the west of the city. It is about 17 km, which takes approximately 35 minutes.

Firstly, we will visit a local market since the Le King Dynasty of 1428. It is the most famous market in the region where there are many traditional items for sale. If on Market Day (two or three times per week), people from all the surrounding villages would come to trade. People bring dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and bamboo baskets to sell. Everyone is excited to meet each other on that day. You will be surprised by the bustling and colorful market which is working under the canopy of old trees. You will see the old woman chew betel and areca nut and the blacksmith works hard with his bright brazier.

If not on market days, you still visit the nice market with local products for selling as Fish, vegetables, fruits, meat shops, and chatting with local people at the market. Right next to the marketplace, there are nice vegetable farms. We go around and visit vegetable fields growing a variety of produce including bitter melon, corn, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, soybean as well as fruit gardens with oranges, pomelos, papaya, guava bananas, and more., and you may have chance to join a farmer working in his field on the way and ask experienced for local farmers about cultivation techniques and lifestyle.

After that, head to the host’s home to cook delicious and traditional dishes. We will teach you how to cook some special Vietnamese dishes with simple and traditional recipes. Enjoy local fresh vegetables, fruit, and traditional cake and talk about Vietnamese family customs together. Free tea and local drinks will be served. Our tour guide and driver will take you back to the hotel in Hanoi. Your Hanoi tour ends.
